Adult Autism Evaluations

Maybe you have spent years masking, adapting, people-pleasing, or feeling like something about your experience was different—but no one ever helped you make sense of it.

At Evergreen Wellness Endeavors, I offer adult autism evaluations that are collaborative, neurodiversity-affirming, trauma-informed, and focused on helping you better understand yourself.

This process is not about forcing you into a label. It is about exploring your lived experience with care, clinical structure, and respect.

What I offer

I specialize in autism evaluations for adults who are seeking clarity, self-understanding, diagnostic information, or guidance around next steps. My approach is:

Strengths-based
Focused on understanding your patterns, needs, capacity, and resilience—not reducing you to symptoms.

Trauma-informed
Attentive to masking, burnout, chronic invalidation, misdiagnosis, and the ways survival strategies can shape how autism presents in adulthood.

Collaborative
You are treated as the expert on your lived experience. The evaluation is something we work through together, not something that is “done to you.”

Practical
The goal is to leave you with meaningful information, clear clinical impressions, and recommendations that support your real life.

What the Evaluation Includes

Because every person’s history and needs are different, the evaluation is tailored to you. Depending on your goals, the process may include:

  • Clinical intake and history gathering

  • Structured diagnostic interview, such as the MIGDAS-2

  • Autism-related screening tools, such as the AQ, CAT-Q, RAADS-R, or similar measures

  • Screening for anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, or other overlapping concerns

  • Developmental, relational, occupational, educational, and sensory history

  • Optional partner, caregiver, or family input when helpful and appropriate

  • Review of prior records or relevant documentation

  • Diagnostic formulation and DSM-5-TR criteria review

  • Written clinical report

  • Feedback session to review findings, answer questions, and discuss next steps

A diagnosis is provided only when criteria are met. When a diagnosis is not given, I will still provide clear feedback about what was explored, what may better explain your experience, and what next steps may be helpful.

Written Report Options

Every adult autism evaluation includes written documentation of the clinical findings. The length and depth of the report may vary depending on your needs, goals, and the scope of the evaluation.

A brief clinical summary may be appropriate if you are primarily seeking diagnostic clarity, self-understanding, and general recommendations.

A more in-depth written report may be helpful if you need detailed DSM-5-TR diagnostic mapping, accommodation recommendations, treatment planning guidance, or documentation to share with another provider, workplace, school, or support system.

Before beginning the evaluation, we will discuss what type of report would be most useful for your situation. Report writing is billed at the same hourly evaluation rate, and I will provide an estimate of the time involved before completing the report.

Privacy, Autonomy, and Diagnostic Documentation

I recognize that seeking a formal diagnosis can feel vulnerable, especially when clients have concerns about how diagnostic information may be used, shared, or misunderstood.

My goal is to protect your autonomy throughout the evaluation process. Before completing documentation, we will talk together about your goals for the evaluation, what kind of written report is most appropriate, and who you may want to share it with.

Every evaluation includes written clinical documentation, but the level of detail may vary based on your needs. Some clients may benefit from a brief clinical summary, while others may need a more comprehensive report for accommodations, treatment planning, or coordination with other providers.

I document thoughtfully, clinically, and intentionally. This means including information that is relevant and useful while avoiding unnecessary detail that does not serve your care or stated goals. You remain in control of whether you share your report with employers, schools, family members, other providers, or outside systems.

A diagnosis is provided only when criteria are met, and the process will include clear discussion about what the diagnosis means, what it does not mean, and how to make informed choices about using or sharing that information.

Why Adults Seek Autism Evaluation

Many adults pursue evaluation because they:

  • Have wondered for years if they might be autistic

  • Were overlooked, misunderstood, or misdiagnosed earlier in life

  • Experience social exhaustion, sensory overwhelm, shutdowns, or burnout

  • Have spent years masking or adapting to meet others’ expectations

  • Want language for lifelong patterns that have been difficult to explain

  • Are exploring identity, accommodations, support needs, or community

  • Feel frustrated by vague, dismissive, or invalidating mental health care

You do not need to be certain you are autistic before reaching out. Curiosity is enough to begin the conversation.

Fee Structure

Adult autism evaluations are billed hourly rather than as a flat-rate package. This allows the process to be tailored to your actual needs instead of placing every client into the same evaluation format.

My evaluation rate is $250 per hour.

Billable time may include:

  • Intake and clinical interview sessions

  • Structured assessment time

  • Scoring and interpretation of screening tools

  • Review of records or collateral information

  • Written report preparation

  • Feedback session and recommendations

  • Follow-up documentation, such as workplace or school accommodation letters, when appropriate

Every evaluation includes written documentation. Some clients may only need a brief clinical summary, while others may benefit from a more comprehensive report with detailed diagnostic criteria, clinical impressions, and individualized recommendations.

Before beginning, we will discuss your goals for the evaluation and estimate the likely amount of time involved so there are no surprises.

Private Pay Evaluation Services

This is a private-pay service. I do not bill insurance for autism evaluations, which allows the process to remain individualized, transparent, and free from insurance-driven limitations.

Private pay also allows for greater privacy and choice around how diagnostic documentation is used. Your evaluation records remain part of your clinical record, but your written report is not automatically submitted to an insurance company. You can decide whether, when, and with whom you share your report.

Payment is due at the time services are provided unless another agreement has been made in advance. A limited number of sliding scale appointments may be available based on financial need and current availability.

What to Expect

The evaluation process typically takes place over several appointments and may include a combination of in-person or telehealth sessions, depending on your needs and location.

The overall timeline varies depending on scheduling, assessment needs, report writing, and whether additional information is being gathered. Many evaluations are completed within a few weeks, though more complex evaluations may take longer.

Throughout the process, I will explain what we are doing, why it matters, and how the information is being used. You are welcome to bring a support person to sessions when appropriate and helpful.
